The Belgian designer offers his trademark aesthetic to a collection of textiles and outdoor furniture
Dallas, Texas – August 11, 2025— Perennials and Sutherland, LLC, leaders in the international design industry, have announced the debut of Perennials and Sutherland by Vincent Van Duysen, a new collection of outdoor furniture, as well as luxury wallcoverings and 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics and rugs. The first time in his career, Van Duysen designed a line of wallcoverings that speak to his sense of quiet luxury. The six designs—Stitchery, Grooves, Tableau, Tierceron, Filament, and Ashlar— blend dimension and artisanal appeal clients will adore. Following the success of his 2021 Perennials collection, Van Duysen created six new fabric qualities evocative of his signature style: Parquet, Weathered Stripe, Ardennes, Waffle, Brickwork, and Antwerp. Van Duysen rounds out his Perennials debuts with four new performance rugs, including Passer, Lignes, Brickwork, and Waffle. Van Duysen’s 2018 Franck collection, a Sutherland client favorite, receives an update for Fall 2025 with Franck Aluminum, which blends new materials with the original forms. Powder coated aluminum frames and sling seats result in lightweight timeless pieces.
Van Duysen is renowned for creating beautiful collections of furniture and textiles for iconic design brands; however, one category, wallcoverings, has eluded him… until now. With eight wallcovering designs for Perennials, Van Duysen explores texture and material with subtle sophistication. Inspired by the weathered elegance of old world concrete walls, Tableau is a Type II performance vinyl that blends the look of distressed surfaces with modern resilience. Tableau is rich in depth and organic appeal, and is launching in five colorways: Gunmetal, Chalk, Linen, White Sands, and Apricot. Grooves is a dynamic wallcovering crafted with sculpted surface ink on premium non-woven substrate. The abstract pattern launches in Sea Salt, Ash, Peppercorn, Alabaster, and Pigeon.
Perfect for refined residences and elevated commercial settings, Ashlar is a luxury handmade paper that highlights organic texture with the look of hand-cut stone by hand-layering paper pulp in a geometric design. Ashlar debuts in six colorways like Chalk, Blanca, Lichen, Belgian Blue, Pigeon, and Silver Birch. A woven design made with raffia, hemp, and cotton yarns, Filament features subtle horizontal striping that offers rhythm to a space. The natural texture is available in Putty, Blanca, Peppercorn, and Camel colorways. Innovatively composed with a printed design on vertical textile strings, Stitchery provides tactile appeal with a contemporary twist. Stitchery launches in five colorways, including Ash, White Sands, Peppercorn, Belgian Blue, and Pigeon. Finally, Perennials introduces a wood veneer wallcovering with Tierceron, a design that enhances the natural grain of each meticulously placed panel. With the timeless artistry of hand-stained inlaid wood, Tierceron is available in four warm colors: Sea Salt, Putty, Butterscotch, and Tobacco.
“This was my very first time exploring wallcoverings, so I approached it as an opportunity to translate both my architectural language and personal sensibility into something expansive and textural,” explains Van Duysen. “Each design in the collection expresses a different facet of that vision—playing with rhythm, structure, and materiality in a way that feels both intimate and architectural.”
Van Duysen compliments the collection with four rug designs that embrace his passion for tactile appeal. Inspired by classic structure and modern texture, Waffle is a hand-tufted rug featuring a tonal checkerboard pattern that skillfully alternates between plush cut pile and loop. Featuring a pattern reminiscent of stacked brick, Brickwork evokes the timeless appeal of architectural masonry with the integration of loop and pile. The hand-tufted design adds depth to ground any space. Lignes is a dynamic border rug hand-tufted with refined structure. The horizontal banding and the interplay of pile and loop result in a hand-tufted rug ideal for contemporary, transitional, and minimalist interiors. Featuring a striking linear pattern created by inlaying varied rope sizes, Passer is a flatwoven rope rug fusing craftsmanship and performance.
“Whether it’s a soft neutral or a deeper tone,” says Van Duysen, “every fabric enhances the sense of comfort and quiet sophistication we aimed for.” A tribute to Van Duysen’s hometown, Antwerp is a micro-chenille ottoman weave featuring delicate ribbing. The finely textured fabric launches in elegant tones like Sunset, Soapstone, and Belgian Blue. Debuting in colorways like Slate and Chartreuse, Parquet is a small-scale herringbone quality that offers a balance of texture and movement. Brickwork is a linear chenille fabric with velvety softness that adds subtle dimension to upholstery. Brickwork is available in six colors such as Putty, Lavender, and Ice Blue.
A thick textured check pattern, Ardennes is a dimensional quality with rhythmic composition. Ardennes debuts in seven rich colors like Celadon, Smoke, and Denim. Mirroring the checkboard rug design, Waffle is a beautiful chenille quality that feels sophisticated, yet effortless. Waffle is available in new colorways like Pigeon, Lichen, and Silver Birch. A delicate chenille stripe, Weathered Stripe offers soft structure to a design and is available in three colors: Camel, Chartreuse, and Ice Blue. For Fall 2025, two of Van Duysen’s fabrics from his 2021 collection—Heirloom and Flanders—receive colorway extensions, introducing Soapstone and Ice Blue options.
Franck Aluminum reimagines Van Duysen’s original teak Sutherland Furniture collection with modern materials. “It appears lighter, softer and firmly anchored in the modernist universe that is so dear to me,” explains the Belgian designer. “The materials and proportions have been reconsidered to express a sense of quiet sophistication, while maintaining the timeless elegance of the original spirit.” The Franck Aluminum Dining Arm Chair, Lounge Chair, ThreeSeat Sofa, and Dining Side Chair combine powder coated aluminum frames, which retain the same design as the teak frames, and sling mesh seats. Designed with comfort in mind, the slings are available in three colors: Black, Linen, and Bone. In lieu of teak frames, the Franck Aluminum Rectangular Dining Table and Rectangular Coffee Table are comprised of powder coated aluminum frames with either aluminum slatted tops or Belgian Bluestone tops. The Franck Aluminum Adjustable Chaise maintains the original form—but with mesh sling and aluminum frame—which provides a dual-movable back with integrated side table. Lightweight, yet built to withstand wear and tear, Franck Aluminum is ideal for hospitality projects and residential homes, alike.
