Perennials® Introduces Martyn Thompson for Perennials Rugs Collection

An exquisite collection built to withstand chaos and clutter

Dallas, Texas — Perennials, a leader in the international design industry and the preeminent provider of luxury performance textiles and accessories, announced the debut of Martyn Thompson for Perennials Rugs, a collection of luxury performance Tibetan Knot rugs. Inspired by the iconic photographer’s love of layered textiles and distinctive style, Martyn Thompson’s collection includes four vivid designs that emphasize Thompson’s impressionist influences while maintaining all of the benefits of using Perennials’ high-quality solution-dyed acrylic yarns.

Reflective of his artistic vision, Thompson’s collection is comprised of four new Tibetan Knot patterns: Rose, Splash, Echo, and Dream. Each style takes on Thompson’s penchant for moody patterns, yet transforms his aesthetic into accessible designs. The patterns were designed to complement yet contrast each other, resulting in fun color and pattern play for clientele.

Believing sophistication and chaos go hand-in-hand, Thompson’s Splash style embodies a captivating splatter paint theme. Splash is available in a smoky Mushroom colorway, brighter speckled Mustard colorway and a kaleidoscopic Rust colorway. Rose features an oversized image of a dreamy cabbage, resulting in an elegant yet dramatic design with three-dimensional quality that is available in the Tin, Lichen, and Aubergine colorways. Offered in Tin, Winter, and Charcoal, Echo is Thompson’s woodland- inspired design with gothic undertones and luxurious texture. Lastly, Dream is an abstract atmospheric design inspired by a distorted image of a pool floor from Thompson’s archives. Dream is available in two complementary colorways, Autumn and Winter.

Much of Thompson’s previous work focuses on relation to the spaces around us, and how they reflect personal creativity. Thompson stresses the idea of living spaces as a temples of creativity where work flourishes and organized chaos ensues, and Perennials has transported the artist’s vision from his Manhattan studio to homes worldwide with this new line of luxury performance rugs.

“My Perennials rug designs represent ‘Best of’ imagery from different stages in my career,” explains Thompson. “I enjoy this idea – the ‘unfolding of an image.’ For instance, the Rose style was inspired by a photograph of a cabbage I took 14 years ago on a rooftop garden in Los Angeles. The designs have a rich history in the source material so it is exciting to see these images now transformed into tactile rug designs.”

Each rug design and colorway has been carefully designed by Thompson with approachable avant-garde style in mind. The collection is made from Perennials’ 100% solution-dyed acrylic yarns and resist stains, UV light and mildew, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They are luxurious, soft-to- the-touch and are very easy to maintain and clean.

Photographer Martyn Thompson began his career making clothes before deciding to document them instead. He worked as a fashion photographer in Paris prior to moving to London where his scope broadened into the world of interiors and still life.
