Design Deep Dive: R Cartwright Design

Welcome to Design Deep Dive, where we call on designers to give us the details behind installs featuring Perennials!

Based in Iowa and designing houses around the country, Rebecca Cartwright is no stranger to customizing spaces according to her clients’ needs. The principal of R Cartwright Design, Rebecca prioritizes learning her clients’ needs and creating stylish solutions. While designing a Naples, Florida vacation home for a client, she and the client were looking for a way to amp up the entry way. “After originally completing the entry in this Naples, FL home, we talked with the homeowners about upping the ‘wow factor,'” says Cartwright. “One way was to create a more graphic rug here.” Enter Perennials!

What was the inspiration behind Cartwright’s custom flatwoven rug design? “We had utilized a lot of blacks, creams, camels, grays and greens throughout this vacation getaway. We powder coated the stair railings black, painted the walnut door and window trim white, and papered the adjoining rooms’ ceilings in wood toned wallpaper,” explains Cartwright. “We incorporated gray and cream in the Perennials flatweave rug in order to tie in the painting hung in the two-story stairwell. This was our first experience creating a custom rug with Perennials. Their team sent us threads to select the colors we wanted. The process was smooth and timely.”
