Spill Spotlight: Wild Child

Welcome to the Spill Spotlight, a series to highlight designer favorites with installation shots and fun facts behind the design.

Since its debut in 2019, Wild Child has been a hit! The chunky tweed-like fabric features gorgeous color variation that makes it suitable for any environments, indoors or out. Varying color yarns throughout each colorway ensure the fabric will pick up complimentary colors from other areas of the design. We wrote about the story behind Wild Child this year. Now it’s time to round up our favorite installations featuring Wild Child… in the wild!

Fireside Seating

Heidi Hendricks, of Hendricks Churchill, was tasked with designing a cozy and charming country home for Instagram Director of Fashion Eva Chen. In the midst of the renovation, Eva – with two small children and one more on the way – and Heidi turned to Perennials to source kid-resistant fabric.

For the dining area off the kitchen, Heidi explains, “We planned to place a mid-century Paul McCobb chair as a fireside perch, and needed a cozy fabric to enhance its comfort. We were drawn to this fabric because of its wonderful plush texture.  Eva was especially receptive to our choice because the chic texture and color reminded her of a tweedy Coco Channel jacket.”

Colorful Banquette

Featured in House Beautiful in April 2021, this fun contemporary green kitchen by Chicago-based designer SuzAnn Kletzien is accentuated by a striking light fixture and youthful art. To complement orange accents, Kletzien chose Wild Child in Hot Stuff to cover a kid and life resistant dining banquette.

Rounded Bench Seating

New York metro designers Adri + Dahlman Interiors created custom upholstered benches to increase seating in a sophisticated living space. The grey yarns in Wild Child Earth Mother pick up complimentary tones within the whole design.

Functional Ottoman

Putting the FUN in functional, Dana Schwartz centered a soothing living space around an ottoman upholstered in Wild Child Ice Queen. The stain-resistant bleachable fabric is the perfect place to set down a glass of wine without worry.

Where would you use Wild Child in a design? From a fun accessory or prominent upholstered piece, the eye-catching quality is sure to be a people pleaser.
